Ana Aleksandric is a third-year PhD candidate in Computer Science at the University of Texas at Arlington. She is also going into her third year with a position of Graduate Research Assistant in Health Informatics at the Multi-Interprofessional Center for Health Informatics (MICHI). She received her undergraduate degree in Computer Science at Texas Wesleyan University in May 2020, which inspired her to pursue a PhD degree. It is her goal to use her discipline and knowledge to help others. Ana believes that technology and programming can be beneficial in many aspects related to improving the health and wellness of our communities.

I am currently working with Dr. Jacob Luber and Dr. Michael Cho from the bioengineering department to complete my thesis. I received my Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering with a focus in Medical Imaging from The University of Texas at Arlington, and I am planning to graduate with my Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering in Summer 2022. My work with the Multi-Interprofessional Center for Health Informatics (MICHI) focuses on automation of cell imaging analysis through deep learning-based programming with a concentration on calcium spiking in alpha cells.

Nicole Cevallos is a graduate research student pursuing a Master of Science in Business Analytics at the University of Texas at Arlington. Nicole has a background in Public Health background. Their research focuses on data visualization of public health gaps in a community addressing various topics, and they have been involved in several research projects exploring food insecurities, substance abuse, and developing a long-term sustainable solution for the aging population. Nicole has presented their research at several conferences and published a paper in peer-reviewed journals. In the future, Nicole plans to pursue a career in Health Informatics, where they hope to continue conducting research and advancing knowledge in their field.

Will Chen started working toward a Ph.D. in Statistics in August 2022 and received an Honors Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with minors in Biology and Computer Science in May 2022 at the University of Texas at Arlington. His research is primarily centered on the development and application of nonparametric statistical methods, particularly in the analysis of diverse public health data sets.

Jeremiah Joseph is a research assistant with a background in neurovascular physiology. Jeremiah spent two years in the Neurovascular Physiology Lab under Dr. Jody Greaney, participating in the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program for three semesters along with being a Summer of Undergrad Research in Integrative Physiology Fellow and the Louis Stokes Association of Minority Participants Summer Research Fellow during his time in the lab.
Throughout his tenure in the Neurovascular Physiology Lab, Jeremiah focused on identifying potential physiological mechanisms contributing to cardiovascular disease in adults with depression. Along with this his experiences as a teacher and medical assistant while working with underserved communities have profoundly shaped his passion for research, particularly in addressing health disparities.
Beyond research, Jeremiah is currently pursuing a dual degree with a B.S. in Kinesiology and a B.A. in Philosophy, complemented by minors in Biology, Biochemistry, Political Science, and Medical Humanities. He is proud to be recognized as a Bill Archer Fellow and is set to embark on a journey into policy work in the nation’s capital during the spring of 2024. Additionally, Jeremiah is honored to be recognized as an InSTEM scholar for his class of 2025′.
Jeremiah is eager to leverage his diverse education and expertise to advance knowledge and make a meaningful impact in the realms of science, healthcare, and policy through the mentorship of Dr. Wilson and The MICHI initiative.

Reema, a recent graduate from the University of Arlington with a Master’s in Information Systems/Business Analytics (December 2023). I bring over 5 years of experience in data analytics, specializing in tools like Tableau, Power BI, and SAP. I excel in designing dashboards, ensuring data accuracy, and providing user training. In my previous roles, I boosted revenue in the Oil and Gas industry and contributed to data-driven decisions at The University of Texas System.

During my master’s journey, I worked as a TA and RA on projects like THECB. I interned at the University of Texas System as Data Analytics and Visualization intern and I’m now eager to explore new opportunities. Beyond work, I love exploring new places (got a bucket list!), connecting with people, and learning from their experiences. In my leisure time, you’ll find me listening to music, dancing, and lately, trying my hand at cooking

Seyedmohsen (Mohsen) Vaziri, an Electrical Engineering Ph.D. candidate, blends a robust background in bioengineering, microfluidics, optofluidics, and sensor technology with a strong foundation in microfabrication. Leveraging his Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Tehran, Mohsen has made significant contributions to the design and development of several innovative microsystems, such as microfluidics and MEMS devices. He is now thrilled to be collaborating with Dr. Jon Weidanz, Dr. Robert Magnusson, and Dr. Kambiz Alavi, planning to channel his skills into pioneering work on applications of GMR resonator sensors.
