This certificate will prepare undergraduate students to have fundamental skills needed for telehealth and health informatics. Telehealth is the distribution of health-related services via electronic and telecommunication technology. Health Informatics is the storage and use of health care information to foster better collaboration among various health-related providers.

Telehealth as a delivery method for health care has existed with limited uptake since the 1970s, but because of the coronavirus pandemic telehealth, use of telehealth and health informatics has exploded. Telehealth, as a mode of delivery of health care is part of the larger domain of Health Informatics.

This foundational certificate is intended to rapidly prepare and equip future health care providers of many professional disciplines with the fundamental skills and knowledge to function safely and effectively in a health care environment when they enter the work force.
